Q. What is the objective of the Remittag Quizzers' Group?
A. It’s a simple idea, an ideal. A common ground where a group of young impressionable minds can learn, share, and compete for something they all possess - for something they all want more of – knowledge!
Q. How did it all start?
A. In July 2003, Ami Gautam Goradia, VP-Knowledge Properties, Remittag, decided to take the first step to try to bridge the gap between the standard school curriculum and the vast ocean of knowledge beyond its purview, by starting the Remittag Quizzers’ Group (popularly known as RQG).
Q. What exactly does one learn at the Remittag Quizzer’s Group?
A. RQG, in its simplest form, is a quizzers’ group for school children with a unique curriculum based on subjects that are not touched upon, or lightly touched upon in school. The subjects are as diverse and stimulating as The Arts, Religion & Mythology, Literature & Language, Cartoons & Comics, Science & Technology, Sports, Business & Politics, and many more. Subjects like Picture Trivia, Travel & Tourism, Films & TV and Music are accompanied by an engaging selection of audio-visuals. Students are also encouraged to bring in and share new and interesting articles from magazines and newspapers. At RQG, not only do students gain invaluable quizzing facts, but they also gain an insight on how these facts came to be.
Q. How often do the students of the Remittag Quizzer’s Group meet?
A. The students of RQG meet once a week. Each batch of RQG has 10 sessions. Students are taught two different subjects per session, followed by a synopsis of the weekly news and a short class quiz. On the 10th and last session, students get an opportunity to test their knowledge by competing in an exciting quiz. The winner gains the title of "The RQG Brain" and a special prize.
Q. Are the students provided with any material?
A. Every student who enrolls in RQG is provided with a kit comprising of an environment-friendly cloth bag, a file, a scrapbook, a cap, and a badge. At the end of each session, students take home with them study material that contains a detailed summary of what they learnt in class and two fun-filled worksheets per session.
Q. Is it only the students who benefit from the Remittag Quizzers' Group?
A. Even though the RQG sessions have primarily been designed for school children, most of the material provided is just as intriguing and savoury for the adult mind. We have also had tremendous positive feedback from parents who were thrilled with the knowledge that their children and they themselves had gained from the material provided by RQG.
Q. Where can we find the Remittag Quizzers’ Group?
A. RQG is currently conducting its batches in the suburbs of Mumbai. The first batch was completed in September 2003, followed by a second batch that was completed in January 2004. The target for the next academic year is to start RQG in various schools across Mumbai.
